Sweden gathers competence in additive manufacturing in the new AM Center
The Application Center for Additive Manufacturing was inaugurated on May 31 2022 by Kristina Jonäng (C), chair of the regional development committee in the Västra Götaland region (read more here). The AM Center is now open to its partners and customers who wants to take advantage of cutting-edge expertise and infrastructure for additive manufacturing.
– We have worked quite some time to get all the pieces in place, and it feels fantastic to finally be able to inaugurated the AM Center. Now we are entering the next phase, working hands-on with the AM-technology as well as its eco-system together with our partners and customers to explore the benefits and solve various industrial challenges to push the technology more to the market, says Seyed Hosseini.

Volvo Group: Looking forward to “spectacular failures”
The Volvo Group has been evaluating 3D printing for many years, but still has only one component in mass production. The Group is now looking forward to exploring the opportunities afforded by the technology, as well as its limitations, together with other partners in the Application Center for Additive Manufacturing.
– We intend to make use of lessons learned in the AM Center in our own strategy for additive manufacturing, says Johan Svenningstorp.

EVENT
Inspiring and fruitful discussions at Additive Intelligence 4.0
Big challenges like sustainability, environment-health-safety (EHS), quality assurance, process and material development, and design for AM were on the agenda when the AM industry met at the Additive Intelligence 4.0 conference in Gothenburg. Most appreciated was the opportunity to network with other companies.
PROJECT
3D-Action shows SMEs the possibilities of AM
The 3D-Action project wants more small and medium-sized companies to explore the possibilities of additive manufacturing. This is done, among other things, by offering free insight seminars and feasibility studies for AM. The feasibility studies will give guidance for how the company could use AM, what competitive advantages it would provide and how it could contribute to a more sustainable production for the company.

CASE
Normada 3D-prints sustainable sofa on demand
With traditional craftsmanship, strong climate commitment and 3D technology, Johanna Vesterberg wants to create a new way to manufacture, shop and recycle furniture. The Application Center for Additive Manufacturing has helped Normada develop a 3D-printed sofa, which can be print locally, anywhere in the world.

TECHNIQUE
Hirtisation with H3000
The AM Center is now building up its infrastructure to meet all needs along the additive manufacturing value chain. For example, we offer hirtisation with H3000 from RENA Technologies. Hirtisation is a fully automated three step process, used to improve the surface quality and to automatically remove support structures after printing.
