Welcome to the Webinar “Graphene paper – A Paper for the Future Digital Society”
Graphene-paper is a new, exciting concept of papermaking that will enable paper to be digital which could be an important solution in many digital devices of the future. Learn more about the upscaling of graphene paper and it’s potentials for tomorrows electronic products.

When: Friday, 15 December 2023, 8:30 - 9:15
You will meet: Andreas Fall, Senior Researcher RISE

Today’s electronics are produced by inorganic materials but now, new solutions for biobased materials for electronic devices are under development. One interesting concept is incorporating graphene in paper that makes paper, not only electrically conductive but also thermal. This provides potential use in everything from electronic storage, sensors, antennas to thermal applications, such as sterilization, air filtering, and heating of foods and beverages.

The high aspect ratio in combination with the large width (10–100µm) of the graphene flakes enables high physical retention in the paper network, making graphene a suitable additive in papermaking. In addition, the large development in production of graphene, providing coarser and especially more cost-effective grades makes the graphene-paper economically viable for a increasing number of application areas.

In a biomaterial scale up project, graphene-paper was produced at a larger roll to roll scale for the first time. Trials were conducted on the pilot paper machine XPM at RISE-MORE facilities in Örnsköldsvik. Except from paper properties the project focused on health, sustainability and work environment, including the consecutive clean-up of the facility. During the webinar we will share the promising results.

This webinar is number three in RISE's webinar series focusing on upscaling of bio-based materials. The series consists of three digital events where the audience meets colleagues and researchers who talk about how we at RISE have helped some of our customers with upscaling of various kinds.

For those of you who are interested in the subject or want help to get started with the work on upscaling bio-based materials, these events are excellent opportunities to learn more. This third webinar is a great chance to get insights in this new, emerging field of research that might be part of the future digital society.

This event aims at researchers and product developers as well as anyone who is interested in sustainable electronics or in new application areas of paper.

The webinars take place during three mornings in the darkness of December, starting on 12/12 at 8:30.
