Account of 14th IEA Heat Pump Conference Opening and Plenary Presentations 

On May 16 The 14th IEA Heat Pump Conference was opened. The theme of the conference was “Heat Pumps – Resilient and efficient” and 400 participants from 25 different countries had joined the event. 

In his plenary speach Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), noted that heat pumps are becoming the key heating technology for many policy makers and that IEA is very happy to see the double digits growth of heat pumps around the world but also recognize that the potential is much higher. The other plenary speaches were held by Jennifer Granholm, US Secretary of Energy Metchild Woersdoerfer, Deputy Director-General DG Energy at the European Commission, Stephan Renz, Chair of IEA HPT TCP
Technical, Min Soo Kim, President of the General Conference of IIR, Reinhard Radermacher, Professor from University of Maryland and David Porter, Vice President, Electrification & Sustainable Energy Strategy, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).

Report from the Workshops and Technical Sessions at the 14th IEA Heat Pump Conference

Sharing knowlede and insights from research and projects are fundamental aspects of the "conference experience". The 14th IEA Heat Pump Conference programme gave many opportunities for the attendees to come togehter and exchange thoughts and ideas. 

Before the opening of the 14th IEA Heat Pump Conference in Chicago, nine different workshops were organized by the operating agents of the different international collaboration projects (Annexes) and by Heat Pump Centre. Read a summary of the workshops here. In the vibrant atmosphere of the conference a diverse array of experts and enthusiasts gathered to engage in illuminating discussions and presentations that propelled the frontiers of heat pump technologies. Proceedings and presentations from the 14th IEA Heat Pump Conference 2023 now available!

In May 2023 the 14th IEA Heat Pump Conference were held in Chicago under the theme “Heat Pumps – Resilient and Efficient.” Now, the papers presented during the conference, together with a major part of the presentations are available for free via the database of the Technology Collaboration Programme on Heat Pumping Technologies (HPT TCP) by IEA.

The success of the 14th IEA Heat Pump Conference underscores the importance of global cooperation in advancing heat pump technologies.
