One step closer to the autonomous mine
5G and edge computing will contribute to a higher level of automation in the mining industry. And more autonomy will lead to a better working environment and safer mines.

We at RISE are one of the parties in the project. We will implement prototypes of edge nodes, both hardware and software.

From H2 powered computers to hot water
Datacenter Insider, the leading German datacenter magazine, writes about our Wedistrict project. Ariane Rudiger has interviewed Jon Summers and written about the challenge.

A milestone is reached for the WEDISTRICT demo-site
Since February 10, our two containers are in place and also our gas storage. The bottom container contains a data centre with a Submer basin for cooling of the OCP server equipment and a UPS. The top container contains the fuel cells for powering the IT and deliver heat to the district heating network.

Vertiv joins partnership program to develop sustainable data centre technologies
Through the partnership with RISE, Vertiv will specifically support the Infrastructure and Cloud research & test Environment (ICE) as well as publications and demonstrations by RISE and engagement in small research and development studies.

Emil & Nadja visit RISE ICE Datacenter and eat mealworms
The media account @Norrbotten has just released a new video to tell about things you didn't know about north Sweden.

The YouTuber Emil Hansius and the Swedish Idol winner Nadja Kasanesh  visited ICE. They looked at our industrial symbiosis experiments with growing greens or mealworms and had a taste.

RISE puzzles with pieces at the edge
Elektroniktidningen (ETN), a technical magazine, has written an article about our activities around the network edge. The distributed computing power creates new opportunities but also increases complexity, two aspects that researchers at RISE and LTU are trying to master.

RISE tests fuel cell-powered CHP Edge data center in Luleå
DCD, Data Centre Dynamic, magazine has written about our Wedistrict project.  Swedish research institute RISE has set up a small data center in Luleå, powered by fuel cells instead of the mains. The installation is part-funded by the EU's WEDISTRICT project
