Short report about the Horizon Booster Workshop
On September 9th the VALU3S consortium attended the Exploitation Workshop provided by the Horizon Results Booster, an initiative created by the European Commission to support the dissemination, exploitation and business plan development of European funded projects. This Workshop was given as part of the application made by VALU3S for Service 1, Portfolio Dissemination & Exploitation Strategy, Module C, Assisting projects to improve their existing exploitation strategy.
During the interactive morning lecture, the consortium discussed with the Horizon Results Booster Team the two main key exploitable results it had identified prior to the meeting: 1) a web-based repository consisting of a searchable catalogue of V&V methods and tools applicable to specific domains and application scenarios, and 2) a tailor-made holistic V&V-centred systems engineering tool suite. Each of these results were characterised, identifying their value with respect to current solutions on the market, the possible stakeholders and the way to bring them to target markets by overcoming any risks that might arise. In addition, the roadmap that would facilitate their exploitation and, hence, the return of earnings was also drawn up.
Overall, it was a didactic morning that helped many partners to learn about the benefits of exploitation and how they could do it themselves.

Standardisation Workshops, Autumn 2021
On the 16th of September of 2021, the VALU3S project has initiated a new series of training sessions dedicated to standardisation. This is a new branch in training activities within VALU3S that aims at building an internal ecosystem for the exchange of information focused on aspects of established standards and ongoing standardisation activities that are of relevance to the work being performed in the project. Moreover, these training sessions have also the purpose to support the standardisation activities that are foreseen in the scope of the project and drive it towards the achievement of one of the project’s KPI that aims at the project being involved in at least 14 standardisation initiatives.
The first session was focused on the CEN ISO/IEEE 11073 Health informatics. This norm enables communication between medical, health care and wellness devices and external computer systems. They provide automatic and detailed electronic data capture of client-related and vital signs information, and of device operational data.
- Real-time plug-and-play interoperability for citizen-related medical, healthcare and wellness devices;
- Efficient exchange of care device data, acquired at the point-of-care, in all care environments.
- "Real-time" means that data from multiple devices can be retrieved, time correlated, and displayed or processed in fractions of a second.
- "Plug-and-play" means that all a user has to do is make the connection – the systems automatically detect, configure, and communicate without any other human interaction
- "Efficient exchange of care device data" means that information that is captured at the point-of-care (e.g., personal vital signs data) can be archived, retrieved, and processed by many different types of applications without extensive software and equipment support, and without needless loss of information.
This norm could serve as inspiration in other domains in which the interoperability between devices is a must, and data sources can be of different types; The way the data is structured and real time registration is achieved can be of use in other domains.
As usual in VALU3S, the video of this first session (of the training dedicated to standardisation will made available in our Youtube channel as well as the videos of the future sessions), so stay tuned in our social networks, as the link for the video will be announced soon.

VALU3S is a 3-years collaborative project funded by ECSEL JU under Horizon 2020 Work Programme. The project, started on May 2020, will last until April 2023 with a consortium composed by more than 40 partners coming from 10 different European countries. Nowadays, automation is heavily deployed in several applications which require high safety standards, however the spotlight is always focused on functionality. Furthermore, high complexity of automated systems make verification and validation time-consuming and costly. For these reasons, VALU3S project aims to design, implement and evaluate forefront methods and tools that will reduce time and cost for verification and validation while increasing safety and security performances of automated systems. VALU3S will demonstrate and validate the proposed framework within 13 realistic pilots in different fields: automotive, railways, aerospace, agriculture, health and industrial robotics.

VALU3S present at EFECS2021
After the successful participation to EFECS2020, we’re pleased to announce that VALU3S project will be represented again the 2021 edition as running project belonging to the ECSEL JU programme!
The EFECS2021 event will be held online from 23th to 25th November 2021; EFECS is the European Forum for Electronic Components and Systems, which this year will focus on digitalization to enable a green and competitive Europe along the Electronic Components and Systems value chain in Europe. The organisers of this event are AENEAS, ARTEMIS-IA and EPoSS in association with ECSEL Joint Undertaking, the European Commission and EUREKA. They have joined forces to organize also this year, despite continuation of Covid-19 crisis, such a big event bringing together all stakeholders which can contribute in shaping our digital future.
As happened in the last edition, VALU3S consortium is organising a virtual booth where materials concerning the project (including videos, brochures, etc,) are showcased. Furthermore, participants will have also the occasion to speak with VALU3S representative to discover more about project goals, activities and results. And, vice versa, VALU3S consortium will have the opportunity to address targeted stakeholders for starting the exploitation of project outcomes.
Stay tuned on website and social medias to receive further updates! |
