Cooperation agreement between RISE and the Swedish Space Agency in space data
The need to analyze data from space is great. This applies to everything from climate impact and tomorrow's weather forecast to forestry. The research institute RISE and the Swedish Space Agency have now signed a collaboration agreement for long-term and strategic collaboration.
EUHubs4Data Open call for data driven experiments
We are looking for Big Data innovators and entrepreneurs to propose us their experiments. We will publish 3 Open Calls to be opened on December 2020, August 2021 and May 2022.

“Therefore, it is not ‘pure idiocy’ to build data centers”
A debate article was published in Ny Teknik. “Establishment of data centers is criticized because of electricity consumption and because they do not provide many jobs. In fact, data centers have a positive climate effect – and lead to jobs, write researchers and representatives of the data center industry”.

Data center heated greenhouses for sub-arctic regions
Now our Elsevier article in Energy is available online, where we are studying the possibility to use datacenter excess heat for greenhouse heating and increase of the local food self-sufficiency in our sub-arctic region.

Mealworms are farmed using heat from a Swedish datacenter
Heat is wasted from today's data center. In Luleå, researchers are trying to take advantage of the heat to grow mealworms - which seem to grow fast. The technical newspaper Nyteknik has written an article about our mealworm experiment.

Data analysis for predictive maintenance
Predictive maintenance based on advanced data analysis and large amount of data from many sources is an area of high potential. RISE researchers have worked on methods to do predictive maintenance for energy systems.
ON STAGE
Sponsor Talk at BDVF from RISE on 5G network edge and the AI Agenda for Sweden
At Big Data Value Forum this year RISE had a sponsor talk with the speakers Tor Björn Minde and Jeanette Nilsson. The presentation was divided in two parts.
Panel – Nordics to lead reduce in carbon emissions. Greening the TMT Sector
The content was to capture market forecasts and deep dive with regional leaders and experts to discover how the Nordics are leading the way in reducing carbon emissions
Jon Summers in panel at Data Center Ireland event – liquid vs air cooling
RISE ICE Scientific lead Jon Summers has been active at Data Center Ireland virtual event. He joined a panel with Alan Beresford, Matt Evans, Daniel Pope and Anthony Robinson.
How will 5G/6G impact datacenters of the future
Tor Björn Minde gave a view on how 5G/6G will impact the datacenter industry at the business news magazine Dagens industri’s Datacenter day event. It means among other things that Nordics will be an even hotter destination for non-latency dependent workloads when 5G/6G-edge will take care of low latency applications and workloads.
Virtual DCD Europe and OCP Tech Week conferences
ICE Scientific lead Jon Summers has been very active participating in panel sessions at DCD Europe, the virtual conference for the European data center industry and the OCP Tech Week.
